Tractor market first half of 2025: positive trend returns

After several negative quarters, the market appears to be starting to grow again. Only slightly, compared to a six-month period that had gone terribly, but as the well-known saying goes: “A little is better than nothing.”

After a boom in registrations in 2021, with approximately 24,360 units, the tractor market has consistently seen declines, falling to approximately 20,160 registrations in 2022, approximately 17,600 in 2023, and approximately 15,380 last year.

2025 also began negatively, with a decline of more than six and a half percentage points at the end of March, but this very figure, no longer in double digits, led to the hypothesis that the decline was slowing.

At the end of June, it was confirmed that Macchine Trattori’s forecasts, summarized in the “Market” column under the title “There’s Light in the Tunnel,” were correct.

Registrations have indeed recovered, closing the first half of 2025 with a positive result. This growth is minimal, and refers to a very poor first half of 2024, but it is hoped that it will consolidate in the coming months, aided by the new government aid. Almost all manufacturers have benefited from this, with significant increases such as those reported by Antonio Carraro, 188 tractors, and Same, 137 machines.

Deutz-Fahr, Kubota and Massey Ferguson also performed well, with 65, 56 and 46 more registrations respectively compared to the first half of 2024. Growth was also noteworthy for Fendt, Ferrari, John Deere and Landini, all exceeding 30 machines, and the trends shown by the Asian brands were confirmed.

The only brands bucking the trend were Case IH and New Holland, whose registrations fell by 92 and 511 units, negatively impacting their market share, with New Holland dropping below 13 percentage points.
